CCS clubs and organizations give students opportunities to explore their interests, develop leadership skills, build friendships, serve their community, and become more involved in school life. Explore the opportunities available and find new ways to connect, participate, and lead.

  • National Honor Society (NHS)

    The Copenhagen Central School National Honor Society (NHS) recognizes outstanding high school students who have demonstrated excellence in Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. Membership in NHS is one of the highest academic honors a student can achieve and reflects a commitment to making a positive impact both inside and outside the classroom.

    Students are selected based on established academic criteria and a demonstrated record of leadership, community involvement, responsibility, and integrity. Membership is not simply an award for past accomplishments—it is an ongoing commitment to uphold the values of the National Honor Society through continued academic achievement, service, and leadership.

    Service Above Self

    National Honor Society members participate in a variety of service projects throughout the school year that benefit Copenhagen Central School and the surrounding community. These experiences encourage students to develop compassion, leadership, and civic responsibility while making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

    Through volunteering, mentoring, fundraising, and school improvement initiatives, NHS members exemplify the values of service and leadership that define the organization.

  • Junior National Honor Society (JNHS)

    The Copenhagen Central School Junior National Honor Society (JNHS) is an elite organization recognizing students who have demonstrated excellence in scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship. Membership is one of the highest honors a middle school student can receive.

    Students are selected for membership at the end of their 7th grade year based on their academic achievement and their commitment to serving both the school and the community. Membership is not simply an award—it is an ongoing commitment to maintaining high standards and serving as a positive example for others.

    What JNHS Members Do

    • Participate in school and community service projects
    • Volunteer their time to support others
    • Develop leadership and teamwork skills
    • Promote positive citizenship throughout the school
    • Serve as role models for younger students and classmates

    Leadership Through Service

    JNHS members participate in a variety of service activities throughout the school year. As a group, students select and organize community service projects that make a positive impact on the school and local community. Members are also encouraged to pursue independent volunteer opportunities, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to helping others.

    Our Mission

    The Junior National Honor Society strives to inspire students to become leaders who demonstrate integrity, compassion, responsibility, and academic excellence. Through service and leadership, members make meaningful contributions to their school and community while preparing themselves for future success in high school, college, and beyond.

  • Cornell Cooperative Extension 4-H Afterschool Program

    The Cornell Cooperative Extension Jefferson County 4-H Afterschool Program provides Copenhagen Central School students in Kindergarten through Grade 8 with a safe, engaging, and enriching environment after the school day ends. Through hands-on learning experiences, students develop leadership, teamwork, confidence, creativity, and problem-solving skills while building lasting friendships.

    The program follows the nationally recognized 4-H Positive Youth Development model, encouraging students to learn by doing through fun, educational activities that promote personal growth and lifelong learning.

  • Ski & Snowboard Club

    The Copenhagen Central School Ski & Snowboard Club gives students the opportunity to experience the excitement of downhill skiing and snowboarding while enjoying the beautiful winter season in Northern New York. Each winter, participating students travel to Snow Ridge Ski Resort in Turin, New York, for an evening of skiing and snowboarding with friends and classmates.

    Whether students are stepping onto skis for the very first time or have years of experience on the slopes, Ski Club provides a fun, safe, and supportive environment where everyone can enjoy the sport. Students have opportunities to improve their abilities, challenge themselves, and create lasting memories throughout the season.

    What to Expect

    • Weekly evening trips during the winter season
    • Skiing and snowboarding at Snow Ridge Ski Resort
    • Transportation provided by the school
    • Opportunities for beginners and experienced riders alike
    • Optional equipment rentals and lessons available through the resort
    • A safe, supervised environment to enjoy winter recreation

    Annual Registration

    Ski Club is offered each winter season. Information regarding registration, transportation, schedules, costs, equipment rentals, and required permission forms is shared with students and families prior to the start of the program. Watch for announcements each fall for details about the upcoming ski season.

  • Student Council

    The Copenhagen Central School Student Council serves as the voice of the student body by promoting school spirit, encouraging student leadership, and organizing activities that strengthen our school community. Student Council members work closely with faculty and administration to help make CCS an engaging, welcoming, and positive place for all students.

    Through collaboration, service, and leadership, Student Council members represent the ideas and interests of their classmates while planning events that build school pride and create memorable experiences throughout the school year.

    Student Council believes that leadership is built through service. Throughout the year, members participate in projects that support Copenhagen Central School and the surrounding community. Whether organizing fundraisers, recognizing student achievements, welcoming new students, or supporting local causes, Student Council strives to make a positive difference both inside and outside the classroom.

    By encouraging participation, respect, and school pride, Student Council helps create a school environment where every student feels connected and valued.

    Get Involved

    Students interested in becoming more involved in school activities, developing leadership skills, and making a positive impact are encouraged to participate in Student Council. Elections and membership opportunities are announced throughout the school year. Students should watch for school announcements or speak with a Student Council advisor for more information.

  • Youth Advisory Council (YAC)

    The Copenhagen Central School Youth Advisory Council, commonly known as YAC, gives students an opportunity to participate in a meaningful decision-making and community service experience.

    Council members review, discuss, and make decisions regarding grant applications submitted for funding. Through this process, students develop leadership, communication, collaboration, critical-thinking, and financial decision-making skills while helping support projects that benefit the school and community.

    • Discuss the purpose and potential impact of each request
    • Evaluate how proposed projects may benefit students or the community
    • Work collaboratively to make funding decisions
    • Develop leadership, responsibility, and civic engagement skills

    Program Funding

    Funding for the Copenhagen Central School Youth Advisory Council grant program is generously provided by the Pratt-Northam Foundation.

  • Yearbook Club

    The Copenhagen Central School Yearbook Club is responsible for creating a lasting record of each school year. Club members work together to design, write, photograph, edit, and publish the annual yearbook, capturing the memories, achievements, and traditions that make each year at CCS unique.

    Throughout the school year, students attend school events, athletic contests, performances, and special activities to collect photographs and stories. Members collaborate to create page layouts, write captions, proofread content, and ensure every student and organization is represented in the final publication.
