Congratulations to Chase Nevills, son of Colby and Stephanie Nevills, and Tavian Camper, son of Jessica and Brian Porter, for signing letters of intent to continue their favorite sport at the collegiate level! Chase will be attending the University of Virginia and Tavian will be attending the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
Coach Russel described the athletes as "exceptional young men" and "leaders on and off the mat." He went on to say ”They’ve faced defeats with grace, celebrated victories with humility, and through it all, they’ve remained steadfast in their pursuit of excellence. They have demonstrated the true spirit of sportsmanship by showing respect for opponents and officials, and demonstrating that the true measure of success lies in the journey, not just the destination.”
Athletic Director Logan Spaulding was quoted saying "The path to Division 1 wrestling is relentless and demanding. It requires unwavering dedication, countless hours of training, sacrifices, and an unwavering belief in oneself. Both Chase and Tavian have shown an unparalleled commitment to their sport, investing countless hours in the gym, refining their technique, and pushing their limits to reach new heights.”
